Are you more made up on Mondays?

Makeup is something I do try to wear to work, although it’s definitely time dependent.

Women apparently take longer to get ready for work on a Monday than any other day of the week, which makes sense really.

I’m often more awake on Monday mornings, meaning I’ve got more time to sit down and do my hair nicely and put on a little more makeup than usual.

After all, looking a little better often helps boost my mood – which is essential for the dreaded Monday mornings.

A survey from Simple shows that 20 per cent of women stop making an effort as the week drags on, with 40 per cent claiming they lose interest in this as early as Wednesday.

The only way I can squeeze in a little more me time in the morning is to plan what I’m going to wear in advance. I know it sounds a little school-like, but it’s a nightmare when I realise my go-to dress is in the wash or nowhere to be found.

I remember when I was younger and tried to make sure I looked just right in the morning to make a great impression, but now the luxury of sleep is more important.

When I do wear makeup I try to stick to the basics, those items that help me to simultaneously cover my sins while accentuating my assets in as little time as possible.

My five-minute makeup includes applying a light oil-free tinted moisturiser with SPF in it, great for keeping my skin matte and hydrated all day.

If there’s time for a little translucent powder and light pink blush then all the better, but if not then it’s straight onto my eyes.

I’ve become a big fan of well-defined eyebrows of late; I’m not talking Scouse brows but there’s no harm in shaping your brows with a pencil and making them look a little fuller – in fact it probably does more for me than eyeliner would.

A few brushes of black mascara and some lip balm and I’m good to go!
