Dressing up – it’s all about modesty ladies!

Dressing up - it's all about modesty ladies!

When dressing to impress, one of the most important debates is usually whether to bare legs or give a sneak peek of cleavage?

Making a feature of both is generally frowned upon as being a bit risque, but what if you decide to bare neither

This is the look going round the world of celebs at the moment, all of a sudden it’s cool to cover up!

It might seem like an odd time to be wearing more rather than less, I mean it’s almost summer not winter right?

But apparently not, at least according to a bunch of rather sophisticated dressers.

Kate Middleton has always been one to watch for her classy take on the latest trends, and if it’s good enough for the Duchess of Cambridge then maybe it’s a trend to try?

The chic new royal looked elegant and demure in a cream Roland Mouret dress last week, with capped sleeves and a tiny slit running up to the knee.

With its figure-hugging shape, Kate still managed to show off her slender frame, but in an altogether smart and glamorous way.

Last week’s New York Met Ball also saw Hollywood A-listers rocking the covered-up trend, each looking respectable yet fabulous on the red carpet.

Maxi dresses had a bit of a moment, covering up the legs of Hilary Swank, Cameron Diaz and Cate Blanchett, all of which also opted for high-necked gowns.

It seems that the only thing many of these ladies left on show was their arms – which gets me thinking I might want to look at using those hand weights sitting at the back of the wardrobe to tone up in time for summer!

By keeping your look far more modest I think it means that dresses, skirts and tops appear far more timeless and likely to be worn in years to come.

After all, I doubt that I’ll want to be wearing cleavage-exposing mini dresses in 20 years time!

What do you make of the demure dress trend?
