Spain is 'top choice for culture vultures'

Package holidays can be great family travel options if you’re looking to have a relaxing break in the sun enjoying sun, sea and sand.

But while these are a popular choice for many, families searching for more of a cultural break could head off to northern Spain for a great fusion of contemporary and historic attractions.

Nadine Hallak, travel expert at Cheapflights.co.uk, advises that Oviedo in Asturias is a “popular choice for culture vultures”, containing a picturesque old town, a famous cathedral and “plenty to see and do”.

If you’re keen to get your kids appreciating good food then Logrono in the La Rioja province has “sumptuous traditional cuisine”, according to Ms Hallak.

She also claims that the city is “a great area for exploring artistic heritage”, with an array of galleries, museums and outdoor art ready to inspire audiences of all ages.

To get your kids fully involved in their cultural holiday you could give them each a disposable camera and encourage them to take snaps to put in their own holiday scrapbooks, helping to create long-lasting memories.
