Taste some authentic Americana in central Florida

Family travel hotspots can often give you a great taste of a country’s touristy side, but result in you missing out on the real-world magic your destination has to offer.

If you’re considering a trip to the US then one of the best places to find authentic American experiences could be central Florida, according to Jo Eckersley, UK public relations assistant for the Central Florida Visitors and Convention Bureau.

With a mix of small downtown communities, art galleries and museums, you can easily get a real flavour of American life, Ms Eckersley claims.

“There’s even an authentic courthouse from [the past] in one of the museums where children can actually be put in the dock,” she said, before recommending heading down to the Silver Moon Drive-In, which was first opened in the 1940s.

Another must-have activity could be to head to the rodeo, where the whole family can learn cowboy skills, line dancing and horse riding.
