Festive Felt Bird

Capsule Spots & Stripes Festive collection is packed full of soft craft products and embellishments in a fresh and wintery colourway. Here, I’ve used some of these products to create this cute bird Christmas decoration.

Step By Step

1. Draw a simple bird shape and wing on to paper and cut out to make a template. Using your templates cut out two bird shapes from different coloured felt and two wings from your chosen fat quarter.

3. Take a piece of narrow ribbon and concertina into two folds to create a tail feather, pin to one of the felt pieces. Curve a piece of ric rac around the belly of the bird and pin in place. Make a loop of twine and pin in place as shown.
4. Pin the other bird shape on top, leaving a gap to stuff the bird with a little cotton wool. Sew the bird together; ensuring you trap the twine, ribbon and ric rac in place. Mix and match your felt and fat quarters to create a whole fleet of festive birds.
