Historic Cities of the Danube with Paul Martin, aboard MS Arena

This is an exciting opportunity to join TV’s very own Paul Martin on an unforgettable journey along the Danube. Witness the highlights along Europe’s second longest river in the company of antiques expert Paul, who will share his knowledge and insights during an exclusive talk and Q&A session. You will have time to explore Vienna, fall in love with Budapest and discover Slovakia’s capital city, Bratislava.  Arriving in Vienna in the early afternoon, you have time to explore city with the option of a guided tour. The capital of classical music is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, with more than 150 palaces and 27 baroque castles. We then return to the ship and head to Budapest. Our special guest Paul Martin joins the ship in Vienna and he’ll do a book signing and host an informal talk and Q&A session over the course of the next two days.  En route to Budapest, we’ll pass by the impressive Esztergom Basilica. It’s the largest church in Hungary and has a 72m-high central dome that can be seen for miles around. We arrive in Budapest around lunchtime. Here you can spend the afternoon exploring what many refer to as one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an optional city tour. You’ll experience Castle Hill and the traditional Buda side of the city, as well as the cosmopolitan side of Pest, too. We set sail for Bratislava in the evening.  In the ancient city of Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, join our optional guided walking tour, where you’ll experience the city’s highlights, as well as sampling the sweet delicacy makovka.  We then arrive in the picturesque village of Weissenkirchen in the heart of Austria’s Wachau Valley. Explore the village and wander along the banks of the river, before we continue to Passau and back to the UK.
